tv talk: 14 romantic movies

 

the kind of valentine's movie for me... romantic comedy, which is why i love all of these movies so much (not stupid funny, those are lame). some of them are super popular big screen hits, so it shouldn't be too hard to find any of them, if you haven't already seen them before now.

i love making these little lists of my favorite movies for different holidays because it is great to have them available when i am celebrating holidays throughout the year. i love mixing traditions with new ideas. we are a big movie family (although most of my kids would say i don't actually pay attention to the tv while it is on), and we love saving certain movies for specific holidays. some of these are new, but we like these movies and love to watch them every year during this time.

as you can see, i am a big fan of 80's cheese! all of these movies can be found on imdb for more info. and i strongly suggest you check out the soundtracks to these films as well. we can never forget this famous song from say anything.

something to make you smile

it has been a super long day for me. the day started at 5 a.m. and we just got home at nearly 8 pm. i had to take jason to work, phoenix got her real cast today (she picked pink), i had a teacher conference with tyler's teacher, both girls had their weekly appointment with their therapist, i picked up jason from work, plus i had a bunch of other errands... like go pick up my issue of People Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive (went to 4 stores and then later discovered that i was told the wrong day. haha! oops!) so, i am keeping this short and simple and leaving you with this little video i saw literally just a few minutes ago. i had to watch it 3 times i liked it so much. enjoy!

he obviously wants chocolate

this is how our morning is going right now. i took this video just a few minutes ago of elijah telling me he wants chocolate milk.

i love how he says it, so excuse how retarded i sound as i attempt to encourage him to talk as well as aggravate him. 

oh and please pay no attention to my messy house!

elijah likes to see himself in the camera, which is why he insisted toward the end. he didn't understand that if i turned the camera around he wouldn't actually be seeing himself. i am happy to report that he has watched this video 7 times prior to me posting this.

i have a slight obsession with this guy. i am probably late discovering julian smith, but he totally cracks me up. he is probably most "famous" for his 25 things i hate about facebook video (below) and  his hot kool aid video.

favorite friday: my little game show contestant

i know this photo is not the best quality, but i just love it.

i took the kids to marbles museum the other day and, besides the train station, elijah had the most fun pushing around a shopping carriage in the home living area. he pushed that carriage around like he was on an episode of supermarket sweep and i laughed the entire time.

two years old

yep, that's right! little E is TWO today. i can hardly believe how quickly these two years have gone by. i miss that little baby but get so excited to see him learn so many new things every day. definitely bitter sweet!

here is a short video of the past two years.

just a few things about elijah now:

• temper tantrums are in full force. a trip to target yesterday was full of high pitched screams simply because he couldn't have the following items: a video game case, a bike horn, a hair brush, chocolate (he kept calling it chocolate but it was actually a travel size bottle of axe deodorant), a book, and a foam sledge hammer. yes, a rather odd selection of items, but he just basically wants everything he sees. 
• he basically eats nothing healthy now. he likes pb&j sandwiches, pizza, grapes, french fries, ketchup, ranch, bread, and any kind of chips or candy. we can get him to eat fruit if it is one of those baby food pouches. totally going in the wrong direction for a two year old, i know. 
• he LOVES trains. it's pretty much all he plays with. 
• he can officially climb out of his crib. sometimes it freaks me out to see him walk in the room when he should be in bed. 
• he wears a size 2T in clothing and a size 4-5 in shoes (although he still won't really keep shoes on his feet).
• he says many words clearly and forms some sentences of two words.
• he loves his daddy way more than his mommy. *grin* he has major separation anxiety when jason tries to leave him. he has pretty much always been like that though. 
• hands down the cutest little runner ever. he runs with his legs spread slightly too far and i love it.

happy birthday to our little man!

we don't usually have big birthday celebrations for our children because so much of our family lives far away, but we are celebrating with a trip to marbles museum for his birthday. he loves the train table there and i know it would be the perfect thing for him. go figure, huh? later on we will have cake and a gift as well. be on the lookout for pictures of his special day.

little love story, gone wrong

jason came home this weekend, but had to leave out again on monday afternoon, so we didn't really have the time to do fireworks and celebrate independence day like we normally do.

i am sure he would have been more than happy to stay at home, but since that is what i do pretty much ALL THE TIME, we went to the mall to let the littles run around and play. i had already done that once last week, but that play area at the mall is a sanity saver and i totally didn't mind going for a second time.

i brought my point and shoot to get a few photos and video of elijah playing because he cracks me up, but soon realized there was a little girl that just kept following him everywhere. he seemed to be okay with it at first, but quickly got annoyed.

the cute little girl obviously wanted more than just a friendship and E wasn't diggin' that one bit. watch as he tolerates her for awhile and then nearly bites her.

E has been very aggressive lately and luckily he didn't bite her because i would not have been okay with that. i used to work with toddlers and the one thing that frustrated me the most was the parents of children who didn't take biting seriously.

although it is an age appropriate behavior, especially for children who are frustrated and unable to use their words to express how they feel, it is still unacceptable.

vloggin' vednesday - guess what i discovered?

i discovered that i do in fact have a southern accent and that i make a lot of funny faces and eye rolls when talking on camera.

i kept the video short simply because it is nearly impossible to do anything when my children are awake.

fyi...that's applesauce he is eating but that is also ketchup on his face.  he will eat anything as long as he has "dip". the ketchup was for his green beans and chicken nuggets. 

 

he was dipping his applesauce filled spoon in the ketchup too occasionally. hey don't knock it 'til you've tried it!

it's christmas eve!

we are so excited about the next few days to come. we have traveling planned and family to see that we only see at this time of year.  

the children are excited about the gifts to come and i am excited to tell you what we got them but i can't.

flashback friday!

pummelvision is a website i found that turns your photos stored on your facebook, flickr, or tumblr accounts into a video for free. nothing fancy, but definitely fun.

i had it grab my facebook photos to make the video. it grabs all of the photos and puts them in order according to when you uploaded them.  what i realized when my video was complete was that except for a VERY select few, all of my photos were from my ENTIRE PREGNANCY with elijah and all the way up until just recently. 

how cool is that?  i love it. it is a 2+ minute video of so many memories.

remember i told you that i had been chosen to participate in the world wide event one day on earth back on 10.10.10?

i finally finished my video and i wanted you all to check it out.

fyi before watching:  i am much better with my digital slr than i am a video camera, but i tried to keep it real. not a lot of major editing and fancy details. simple.

green elephant boutique giveaway winner

i was planning to do a video announcement of the winner of the giveaway for the pleated linen zippered pouch from green elephant boutique, however, after pressing record the twentieth time, i just about threw my video camera out the window.

first it was.."mommy, mommy, mommy!"

then it was..."look at me!" as i was trying to talk and then suddenly tyler decides she wants to be in the video too.

that happened at least four more times.

then elijah started crying.

the phone rang.

i got tongue tied and just might have said "*BEEP*"

i know i said "have a great weekend" on wednesday.

more "mommy", more crying, and i said "um" enough to be considered a drinking game like in one of last season's episodes of how i met your mother.
