The Polyvore Files | Color Me Rad

Yesterday Jason and I ran the Color Me Rad 5k so I decided to put together an outfit similar to what I wore.

Color Me Rad is a fun run, so it's definitely a great first 5k for anyone who can't always run an entire 3.1 miles. There were people walking the entire way, some running and walking, and some, like Jason and I who ran the entire distance. I personally feel like you shouldn't be signing up for any type of 5k, marathon, whatever, if you aren't going to make the effort to at least try to run. I will be sharing some of the photos from it later on this week, so be sure to stop back by and check them out.

Have you ever run a 5k, or even a marathon? I'd love to hear about some of your favorites.

The Polyvore Files | How Does Your Garden Grow

It's gardening season and I am pretty excited about it! I am starting earlier than I normally do and even getting the kids involved this year! I can't wait to share more about that with you soon!

I say I am starting earlier than I normally do, but technically, this is when I should actually be starting. Usually I start late and it's halfway through Summer before I start really getting any produce from my plants.

TPF-Gardening

I am not typically a get down and dirty type of gal, but there is something so enjoyable about gardening! Getting your hands down in the dirt, taking care of your plants each day, and then harvesting your goodies when it is time. It's awesome!

Do you grow a garden? What are some of the fruits or vegetables that you grow every year?

The Polyvore Files | Putting a Little Pep(lum) in My Step

What a gorgeous Friday and Saturday we had. Of course, today it was back down to cooler temps, but I was definitely enjoying those two days while they were here. My weekend was spent getting away from the house for awhile, getting outside with the kids to enjoy the warm weather, getting connected at church, and even getting together with a close friend that I haven't seen in months.

This week's outfit creation is inspired by the warmer weather and an outfit I wore this weekend. I have really been going outside of my comfort zone with clothes and trying things on before actually ruling them out for my wardrobe. I have actually found some great pieces that fit my body great by doing this. Recently, I have really been loving peplum tops. I'm not sure if this style is something that looks good on everyone, but I got so many compliments on the one I wore. The top I own is the exact same style as the one here, the only difference is the pattern. I want one million more in different colors and patterns.

The Polyvore Files | Bummin' It

It was a super busy weekend and I did it all without worrying about how I looked. Sometimes, I just don't want ruffles and bows and shoes that hurt my feet. I just want baggy shirts, flip flops, and a hat to cover the hair I didn't brush. And a big bag is a must! I just throw whatever I think I might need for the day in it, grab my water, and hit the road.

TPF-BumminIt

This is actually my favorite way to dress. If I had to describe my style. It would be clothing similar to this that would best fit me. I am not one for dressing up all the time. With six kids, I just don't have time to be worrying about how I look. That doesn't mean I look a mess, because I believe that you can dress down and still look put together. Of course, there is a time and place for something like this, and this weekend was perfect for an outfit similar to this!

Healthy, Wealthy, & Wise: Freezer Paper Fitness Tanks

Yesterday, I shared with you a new workout tank that I purchased at Kohl's this past week. I have been seeing all kinds of tanks everywhere all over the internet, in stores, and even on other people the few times I have made it out to the track recently. I wanted some of my own, but the crafter in me, just couldn't pass up the opportunity to make my own.

I made Elijah a bunch of shirts last year using the freezer paper stenciling method, and I wanted to try it again on some inexpensive plain workout tanks I purchased at Walmart. I also had some iron on letters from a project ages ago, so rather than let them collect dust any longer, I put them to good use by creating a couple of short sayings with the letters that were left.

Not only do you get to try to read these backwards in a dirty mirror, but you get to see my crazy hair. The second one is the one I did with freezer paper and is hard to read here, especially backwards, but it says, "FIT MOM of six kids". On the third one, I added this cute little bow that definitely gives it a feminine touch! I used the same method for making the knotted hair ties, but instead of tying the bow to the elastic, I simply tied them to the strap of my shirt. What do you think? I love how they turned out, and have plans for a few more shirts.

....................

I just want to thank everyone who has shown me love and support lately. I have gotten so many emails and comments from you all with stories of your own weight loss journeys and challenges. Some of you have even revealed health related issues with me that have made it difficult for you to either lose weight, or the reason you started your weight loss journey. I want you all to know that I read each of your stories and care deeply about you all. I believe we are all here to uplift and encourage each other, and as you think I am inspiring you, you are inspiring me as well.

Please continue to follow me on Instagram where I am always sharing about my journey to better health and fitness. You can also friend request me on my personal Facebook account, where I share as well.

Mama Wears Yoga Pants

I don't know if this will become a regular thing here on the blog, because in all honesty, I am just now learning to style my body. I love clothes and fashion, but sometimes I feel like I am the least fashionable person on the planet. Showing myself all dressed up almost feels prideful, as if I am fishing for compliments to make me feel better about myself. However, that is not at all how I am trying to come across, and just want to share how I style my body as a mom... a mom of six, who often has time for nothing more than yoga pants and workout tanks, such as the outfit I am sharing this week.

I personally believe there is nothing wrong with wearing yoga pants or workout tanks all day, especially when you spend a lot of time running around like the Mad Hatter. Not to mention, workout wear is not just a style for me, I actually do work out. I am very much into health and fitness right now. I have actually had a little dream for several years now, to go back to school for a health and nutrition degree. However, since this mama is broke, I have yet to find any online classes that would allow me to apply with some type of grant. I'd love to hear from you, if you know of anything that can help.

I have really been in the zone with my weight loss since April 2013, but I swear, 2014 has been deemed "The Year of Health & Fitness" for everyone. So many of my of my IRL friends, blog friends, and even family, are on board the train to better health this year, which is totally a great thing! It really helps keep me motivated! There has also been an increase in these super cute workout tanks everywhere. I went into Kohl's the other day in hopes of getting this tank I had seen, but came across the one I'm wearing here, and snatched it right up.

Recently I really got into leggings and yoga pants too. I am kinda late to the game, but it's only because I weighed more before and was very self conscious about how I looked. These are actual yoga pants, and since purchasing them, I have wanted another 10 pair. I can do anything in these things, including my work outs, of course!

P.S. I don't have a remote for my camera, so I had to have Elijah take that first picture. My Canon is a heavy full frame camera, so I think he did very well considering. Perhaps, I can pick up a remote soon, so you can see all of me.

Dressing My New Body with Mary & Mak

Since loosing so much weight in the last year, my style has definitely changed. I was so self conscious of how I looked before and often wore clothes that hid all of the rolls and trouble spots. I felt very frumpy and unattractive, and didn't even enjoy shopping for clothes for myself because I knew that no matter how beautiful the pieces were, they just weren't going to look that great on my body.

However, since I've lost the weight, I have been more excited about shopping for clothes. I enjoy putting outfits together on Polyvore, going into shops and trying things on that actually fit my body, and looking in the mirror at a body that I am proud of. I'm no supermodel, but I have a body that I worked hard to get, and it has opened up a door to a whole new me. A me that loves eating healthy, working out, and dressing in feminine clothes.

Mary & Mak is a clothing boutique dedicated to preppy and trendy fashions that are right up my alley. Even before having children, I have never been one to show off my body. Luckily, with Mary & Mak fashions, you can still have that sexy feminine flair, and still leave some of it up to the imagination. They are so versatile I could definitely wear any of these pieces during a day out with my family, a night out with Jason, or even to church on Sunday. And surprisingly, even Mackenzie has been eyeballing some of the Mary & Mak pieces for herself, like the Navy Anchor Cap Sleeve Dress and the 5-Pocket JeggingsLuckily there is a Mary & Mak in our area, so Mackenzie and I are already planning a mother/daughter date to go shopping.

Be sure to head over to Mary & Mak and check out all of their latest fashions! And as a special gift to all Six Cherries on Top readers, right now, you can also get an additional 5% off your entire purchase when you use the code BLOGGER-JM at checkout!

The Polyvore Files | My Ultimate Super Bowl Sunday

This year it's all about the commercials for us here at the Moore house! Around here we are Carolina Panthers fans (and Falcons fans when they aren't playing the Panthers), so we aren't really pulling for either of the teams. I am actually more excited for the Olympics at this point. However, we are still going to enjoy the game and the commercials none the less and hope neither disappoint this year. I wasn't very impressed with the commercials last year!

Before the Panthers became a team, my family were actually big Patriots fans. My mom was never much of a sports fanatic until she met my step dad, who was from Boston. Before he passed, every Sunday, during football season, our house was filled with good food and the laughter and shouting of family and friends. Then NC finally got their own team and on the weekends we weren't watching in front of the TV, we were watching live on the sidelines.

The Polyvore Files - My Ultimate Super Bowl Sunday

My ultimate Super Bowl Sunday would be the Panthers playing either the Falcons or the Patriots, and winning! We aren't big on heading out to the bars for football, so we would definitely hang out at home with our favorite chicken wings, nachos, and a case of beer! And when we aren't watching the game, chatting it up, or stuffing our faces, what would be more fun than playing the fun game, Cards Against Humanity.
