photo friday | week 3: macro

i originally had planned on posting a close up shot of a little toy mighty bean that my boys have.  if you have children around 5 and up, then you probably know what those are.

however, as i was walking through the house looking for a cord to my computer, my flower topper caught my eye and i just had to snap a quick shot.  and of course, in the end i used this shot as my macro shot for this week's challenge.

i used lightroom 3 and photoshop cs5 to edit and add the texture.

it is a little late in the game but i am sure trina wouldn't mind if you joined now. so, click here to read more and see the weekly themes or click here to link up for this week.

try this on your homemade cookies

longaberger is not just baskets any more. in the last several years, they have added beautiful pottery pieces for cooking and serving.

i received the woven traditions large low bowl with small low bowl in eggplant for serving at christmas and LOVE it. and one of my favorite baskets has always been the large picnic basket that my step mom gave me several years ago.

the best quality ever!

along with all of the lovely baskets and pottery stuff for cooking and serving, they have a variety of delicious comfort foods including dips, soup mixes, and cheese ball kits.

i recently got some of the white chocolate amaretto cheese ball mix. i love cheese balls but this is the first cheese ball i have made on my own and also the first one of this type.

it was super easy to make and i look forward to adding cheese balls to my party spreads from now on, including the traditional cheese ball.

8 oz. cream cheese
4 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp sliced almonds

combine the packet of white chocolate amaretto mix with the cream cheese and butter.  form a ball and roll it in the almonds. refrigerate until firm. serve with cookies, graham crackers, bagels or fruit.

i served these with some delicious sugar cookies and they were a big hit around our house.

i am so behind so here's some snowman macro

we are still busy putting away...

okay, i'm a liar, we have totally been goofing off and i have been putting up a few posts whenever i can.  i even wanted to participate in a few other challenges but with all the fun, i haven't had a chance to really edit any of my photos.

not only have i gotten behind on my editing, i have gotten behind on answering your emails.  if i haven't answered yours, i deeply apologize and i promise to get to them soon.

like i said, i have been randomly putting up photo posts, so here is another one of the snowman my children built while playing in our christmas snow.

frosty

they found the perfect stick that curved so frosty looked as if he was waving. those buttons? yeah, those are york peppermint patties. so frosty not only looks good, he tastes good too!
