for the most part, i hate feet.
i can shake your dirty hands all day, but please don't make me touch your feet.
grown up feet, that is.
cause baby feet are yummy enough to eat!
but whether they're baby feet or grown people feet, we gotta take care of them. hands too!
my hands try to get so dry and cracked during the fall and winter months, so it is so important that i take care of them. here is some awesome stuff I have come across that i now love.
1. nail polish
wow, can this make a big difference! especially on hands, which we see way more than toes in the cooler months, but even on little toes, hands and feet are so much more enjoyable to look at!
some of my favorite colors this season are dark colors such as deep purples and greens. i also like gray, charcoal, and taupe colors as well as bronze colors. this season i am seeing that matte colors are the trend. no shine or shimmer.
i have never bought any opi or china glaze polishes, but so many of the drugstores offer a huge variety of color choices that are good quality. some of my favs. are rimmel, wet-n-wild lacquers, and n.y.c.
for children, the best colors are those that are bright and usually reflect any holidays that are approaching, such as halloween. i have heard that piggy paint is awesome for children, but i have not yet tried it. i have a hard time justifying a reason to buy $9 nail polish for my kids. i have never spent that much on it for myself.
here is the simple halloween makeover i gave phoenix and tyler.

i have been using this stuff for a few years now and i love it. i enjoy giving my tired feet a great soak and then applying this stuff all over and then throwing some comfy socks on. it's got a great minty smell that gives your feet a little tingle. and overnight in some socks and your feet will be soft and smooth.
3. socks
my kids hate socks. i think they get it from me. i don't hate socks, i hate wearing shoes. i have rough dry cracked feet to prove it. because i wear flip flops a lot. too much, i am sure, for my age. i have to buff and moisturize frequently. but that's just me.
my kids hate socks because of those crazy seams at the top. it started with mackenzie and it has trickled down to my other children. they usually wear their socks inside out. which drives me crazy. especially when there is a cute little design on the outside and all i see is the fuzz of design on an inside out sock. not to mention, it looks silly. and very noticeable. and is usually pointed out by at least one person when we are in public.
i was so excited when i was able to try out these socks from smartknit kids seamless sensitivity socks. these socks do not have any seams at the toe. the patented process makes socks completely seam free for kids who can't stand all the lumps and bumps from other socks.
here is some other information that makes smartknit kids seamless sensitivity socks so great:
- form fitting design that hugs the foot and reduces wrinkling and bunching in the shoes.
- the top of the socks have a non-binding halo top that won't pinch and fits comfortably without slipping down.
- wicks moisture away to keep feet dry and control odor.
- the no-heel design keeps children from outgrowing the socks too quickly and allows for a wider range of styles.
- super thick and soft
