one thing before i get started...
if you have been wondering where i have been and why i have not been posting some things or posting some things late, then stick around to find out what has been going on.
my little gymnasts
last wednesday, the girls were so excited to start gymnastics. i spent the day driving around all over the place looking for leotards for them to wear, not knowing that leotards were so incredibly difficult to find. i tried kohl's, target, and even dick's sporting goods.
kohl's and target had a few to choose from, but nothing in mackenzie's size. the manager at dick's also owns a dance studio and he led to to a tiny little shop that sells leotards, but unfortunately, when i got there, i discovered they weren't open yet. there was still 2 hours before they opened and i was not going to sit there that long. it really was my fault for waiting until the last second to get the leotards.
we finally found some at the gymnastics studio. i knew they had them but i didn't want to pay the $30 that they cost.
the leotards at kohl's were $15 and i was okay with that. unfortunately, i had to pay the $30 for mackenzie's leotard.
and by the way, everything went smoothly at gymnastics. the girls loved it!
a thursday trip to the er
that's right, we spent the evening in the emergency room in raleigh. what happened was something i would have expected to happen the day before at gymnastics. while mackenzie was at a special function with her builder's club, a freak accident occurred while mackenzie and one of her friends were jumping on a moon bounce. the other girl fell and landed on mackenzie's hand.
the dr. believes that it fractured the bone in her thumb and tore the ligaments between her thumb and pointer finger. xrays were taken but it was so hard to tell on the xray that they put a temporary cast on her hand and wants her to see the orthopedic dr. this week. the dr. said that if it is fractured, the bone will start to regrow in the area that is is fractured and show up better on an xray. the term for her injury is gamerkeeper's thumb. she is doing well, but please pray that everything is okay and that no surgery will be required.
busch gardens on 10.10.10
sunday was 10.10.10 and if you recall, i was accepted to participate in the one day on earth event that people from all over the world were taking part in. all that was required was for participants to choose a topic of their choice that they felt was important to them and document it using video and photography. we were planning to take the kids to busch gardens for their halloween event that day, so i thought it would be a perfect opportunity to document the life of a family of six children in the u.s.a. it was not a typical day for us, but it was definitely an insight into my family, completely unplanned and unscripted. be on the lookout for a video on that in the coming weeks.
