tunes day tuesday: new emmy rossum cd, senitmental journey

medium.j761t3f7e3ix

i love the music from the 20's through 60's, and that is exactly the feel you get with the new emmy rossum cd. i can't help but feel happy when i am listening to her new cd, sentimental journey. i have such an eclectic taste in music and different types of music are best for different situations. i can put on this cd and feel like june cleaver as i clean the house and do laundry... it just makes it a little more bearable, that is!

emmy's new cd is a collection of covers from the last century, redone in her own sultry style, and it has definitely become my new go-to cd when i need to turn my mood around and get things done. however, i can even see myself now, sitting on my back porch with this music in the background this spring and summer. there's nothing i love more than the warm sun on my face, a drink in my hand, and some good music to fill the air.

one of my favorite songs on the cd is many tears ago. originally sang by connie francis, this song reminds me of one of my favorite movies, shag.

emmy rossum's new cd, sentimental journey, can be purchased on itunes or amazon. be sure to check it out and let me know what you think! is there a classic song you love emmy's rendition of?

great gift idea: chris mann's new cd, roads

christmas is right around the corner so be on the lookout over the next month
as i share some great gift ideas for those on your shopping list this holiday season.

.....................

 S4ry4x

if you watched NBC's show the voice, then you remember chris mann and know that he pretty much blew everyone away last year with his amazing singing voice. a year later and chris mann is now releasing his new album, roads.

when i first received his new album, roads, and started listening to it, i immediately thought of the holidays. it is not a holiday album, however, it has that warm feel that i usually get when listening to christmas music or just being with family. the whole album just has a rich soulful sound that everyone will enjoy. the whole album is amazing but,  i love coldplay and i think that his take on the song viva la vida was better than the original... i applaud him for that!

since i am not big on listening to christmas music too early, this is a great album i can enjoy this month as we get closer to thanksgiving. it will definitely make a great addition to our thanksgiving day... i can just picture it now, boys in the living room in front of the tv, and the ladies in the kitchen singing along to my chris mann cd, catching up on gossip, and cooking all at the same time. it sounds pretty cheesy, but that is a pretty real picture of how it is in our family.

i absolutely love this cd and have considered it as a wonderful gift for family members this christmas. i know my dad would love it too!

be sure to hop over and listen to and purchase chris mann's new cd, roads to see how amazing it is for yourself.

This is a review post from One2One Network. I was provided with a copy of the album and I am eligible for a prize drawing. All opinions stated are my own.

coffee talk

okay, here i go! i am linking up with natalie for coffee talk this week...on time! this week it's about music, videos, and entertainment. definitely some of my favorite stuff to talk about.

1. what is in your playlist?

i like a huge variety of music including pop, rock, indie, country, and everything in between all of those. here is just a random selection of what you would find on my playlist.

coldplay - the scientist
two door cinema club - what you know
alexi murdoch - all my days
walk the moon - anna sun
mat kearney - ships in the night
lissie - when i'm alone
phoenix - if i ever feel better
ed sheeran - the a team
john mayer - heartbreak warfare
best coast - our deal
gym class heroes - ass back home
blue october - into the ocean
sara bareilles - gravity
nickel creek - this side
josh turner - long black train

2. What is the funniest YouTube video you always go to when you need a laugh (or if you just wanna watch it)?

i have two.

my oldest daughter is the queen of comedy and she is always showing me something funny. she showed me this video the other day that had me peeing my pants.

and if you know me, you know that i love julian smith and have always loved this video of his jeffery character.

 3. Favorite song in the whole wide world that you never get sick of and it's on repeat.

i pretty much get sick of all songs eventually, but i have kinda always had a thing for drops of jupiter by train for forever.

 4. Do you have any embarrassing songs/singers/bands that you like?

not really, but i guess i could say that i actually like some of the NKOTB's new stuff in recent years like click, click, click. i was a huge fan of the back in the late 80's when it was new kids on the block, so it's good to see them still making music after all these years. and i LOVE justin beiber's new song beauty and a beat. i am sure it will blow up all over the radio any day now and i will start to hate it.

5. What's that ONE song that ALWAYS makes you cry?

this was an easy one for me. brooks and dunn, believe.

6. What song have you recently heard, that you can't seem to get out of your head?

that damn justin beiber song!

tunes day tuesday - sara bareilles

i am not a huge fan of sara bareilles, and i could even go as far as saying i am sick of hearing king of anything all over the radio stations here where i live. but, i absolutely love the song gravity. such a beautiful song. but, my new lifestyle of working out and staying motivated has me in constant search of upbeat music, and i really like this song...that is, until i play it to death. that's the thing about pop music...it gets old fast. oh, and even if you don't love the song, the video is cute, especially the end, so watch it.

what songs are you playing the shit out of this week?

tunes day tuesday: two door cinema club

i went running this morning, but my body just couldn't get into the groove. i had one of my worst mile times ever and my legs were killing me. even putting on two door cinema club couldn't motivate me enough to push harder and dig deeper. surprisingly, today is my 30 day mark for working out, but i think i will just put it behind me and move on to the next 15 days. i may even put this song on later and dance around the house.

what are you listening to this week? i'd love to hear your recommendations!

tunes day tuesday - the lumineers

i try to stick to one or two bands throughout a week to really take it all in. i am a lover of music, so when i am not watching tv, i try to have some form of music on whether it be the radio in my kitchen, pandora on the stereo in our living room, or something coming from my phone while running, in the shower, or laying down for bed at night. this week i have been listening to the lumineers a lot, especially since i have been running the last few mornings. love this song, ho hey.

if you have never heard this song, be sure to let me know what you think.

tunes day tuesday - nickel creek

i love nickel creek and would definitely classify them as one of my favorite bands. very bluegrass-y, which is not my favorite kind of music, but my dad loves this type of music. i grew up listening to it with him and i try to love this type of music because i think of my dad every time i hear bluegrass music. nickel creek is a more modern form of bluegrass, described by some as contemporary folk music.

this song, out of the woods, is a little bit different from a lot of their other songs, but the instrumental composition is beautiful. it's definitely not about the words in this song as it is the instruments.

this is not an original nickel creek video. however, it was the only video i could find that wasn't a cover.

let me know what you think of this song, and be sure to check out the rest of nickle creek's music. i recommend when you come back down and this side.

tunes day tuesday: lawson

i have always loved music and have a pretty eclectic taste as well. i remember singing and dancing in the backseat of my moms car when i was younger, back when seat belts were a recommendation. i remember my friends and i singing and performing in front of other people we knew... other friends, family, strangers, teachers. i loved it! i used to think that i was so good that i would become a famous singer one day. and i believed i was so good that i was so good that my talent alone would carry me to stardom with little to no effort. i think i was 8 or something. and clueless, because that didn't happen anywhere close to the dream in my head.

however, i still have a huge love for music. and although my dance moves aren't quite like they used to be, i still "get down" when i hear a song that moves me. some of my favorite music is not even the stuff you hear on the radio. did you know there are people out there that are way more talented than what you hear on the radio. well, that's my opinion, but i am pretty sure there are a lot of people who would agree with me. half of the songs on the radio have no feeling. don't get me wrong, i like a good booty shakin' song every now and then, but what i love most are the songs that make me feel something. those are the people who are singing because it's their passion...their heart and soul, not to make a few bucks off the same tune with different words.

the greatest thing about youtube and pandora these days is that they have allowed me to discover so many songs and artists out there that i had never heard of before.

this week i have been listening to lawson. i don't know a whole lot about this band and i couldn't find it on itunes or pandora but here is a video instead. check it out and let me know what you think.

got a cell phone? here's a quick tip...

if you like to listen to music on your phone, then you will love this little tip!

i saw this somewhere but i honestly have no idea if it was on pinterest, or facebook...i just don't know, so don't give me the credit. i just thought it was such a genius idea that i had to share it with you.

Raise your hand if you were the genius who came up with this first. GET A CUP RIGHT NOW (plastic is what I prefer) and turn on the music on your phone. NOW, put your phone in the cup. Instant Speaker! GENIUS! (and if I am late to this little tip...dang!)

GET A CUP... it can be glass or plastic...i prefer plastic because i actually get some use out of my awesome carolina panthers cup, and it just suits my needs better.

NOW... turn on the music you have on your phone and turn it up, whether it is pandora or music you have purchased and loaded onto your phone.

LAST... put your phone in the cup.

INSTANT SPEAKER!

i have been doing this non-stop ever since i discovered this little bit of genius.

want to listen to music in the shower? not only does this make the music louder and easier to hear, but it kinda protects your phone too (as long as you don't have it directly near the flow of water). i have a sliding shower door, so i have been doing this and sitting the cup up on the top ledge of the shower door.

i have an iphone, but i am sure this can work with any type of cell phone.

let me know if you try this!
and speaking of music, what do you like to listen to most?

best coast, our deal supervideo

tvtalk

okay, so i know this is supposed to be about tv, but music came to tv with the invention of mtv.

if you know me, you know that for years i have had a love for drew barrymore for years now (i will go into that little obsession another day).

AND, if you have been following me for awhile, you would know that we took the kids to see miranda cosgrove in concert this past summer. the kids love her, but i have become a bit fond of her myself since that day as well.

okay, so anyways here's the point...

drew barrymore just directed a new supervideo for mtv and it features miranda cosgrove as one of the characters (very different from her character carly on icarly). the production is a romeo and juliet/ west side story style video of the song our deal by best coast

here it is, so check it out!

i love best coast, by the way, and i think this video is pretty great. regardless of the fact that we all have seen this story so many times before.

it's been years since i have actually watched mtv because it's just not like it used to be. where did the music videos go? in a day's time, there are only a couple of hours that actually play music videos. shouldn't it be called something other than mtv now?

worst mood ever.

yes. that's me. and that is also why i haven't blogged this week. sorry friends! it's not you, it's ALL me!

i'd say it's PMS, but i wouldn't know ever since the mirena. i know at least once a month i feel like i want to eat all of willy wonka's factory and saw the heads off all of phoenix and tyler's dolls, but this month is definitely the worst.

so, enjoy this crap as filler for now.

what i have been listening to:
