coffee talk: randomocity

it's been hit or miss with me lately. i have had a terrible cold, been trying to spend more time with my kids, and working to get the house clean before christmas day. busy, busy, busy! but, i wanted to take the time to do coffee talk this week because it looked to be a fun one.

  021filler

1. what type of phone do you have?

i have an iphone 4. i couldn't imagine having anything else!

2. look to your right, what do you see?

i see my beautiful christmas tree!

Untitled

3. list 5 random facts about yourself...

i have written so many random facts posts that it is hard to come up with anything good, so i will try to make these christmas themed:
  •  i am a minimalist. i hate STUFF. i don't collect anything and can't stand knick knacks.
  •  i am pretty much always hungry! bring on the holiday food and about 10 more lbs!
  •  i would rather give than receive. don't get me wrong, i love gifts, but i love to give more.
  •  i love snowflakes...as in the different shapes, or even cutting them out of paper, but i hate winter! hate it!
  •  i am a little ocd about wrapping gifts. i actually hate wrapping because if they aren't perfect, it's unacceptable to me. but on the bright side, you will always get a perfectly wrapped gift from us!

4. what is one talent you wish you were good at?

i really wish i knew how to play some sort of instrument like the piano or a guitar.

5. Go to Wikipedia.org and hit random article. The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band. Go to quotationspage.com and click random quotes. The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first ...album. Go to weheartit.com and click on “explore”. Seventh picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover. Use picmonkey.com to put it all together. Now show us your album :)

coffee talk: habits & peeves

1. What is your worst habit?

i have several habits, some not so good, others just annoying to others.

 ht

i twirl my hair constantly. i have done it since around the time i stopped sucking my thumb in 5th grade (yes, you read that right! i had a hard time breaking that habit too). i twirl and twirl and twirl and i am sure the reason my hair is so thin is partially because of it.

i also have the mouth of a sailor. i don't know where i picked up my dirty mouth from but i guess it's because when i get mad, i use my words to show my anger rather than my fist. it's a guarantee that if i am mad, you will hear the F bomb a few dozen times.

2. What is your biggest pet peeve?

ahhhh! i have a bunch! refer to the post HERE to read all about them.

3. What is annoying you right this very minute?

this damn computer i am using. i seriously need some money to upgrade to a macbook. i actually have 2 computers but i am using the older one because my new one is fried. i got a virus and thought i was a member of the geek squad and tried to fix it. i promise that if i were actually a member of the geek squad, i would currently be unemployed. the computer i am using right now doesn't even have the latest version of windows. i might at well be using a flipping typewriter.

4. How do you relieve stress?

eating, running, twirling my hair. i have high anxiety so i am constantly doing one of the three.

5. What TRULY makes you happy?

of course jason and my kids truly make me happy, but being able to spend quality time with them doing fun stuff is very important to me. i want my children to have amazing memories of their childhood.

other things include being able to express myself creatively, helping others, a clean house, and a good nights sleep.

coffee talk

coffee talk_1

i love having coffee and learning new things about everyone each week with coffee talk. before we get started, i thought i should share with you how i like my coffee. hopefully the way i like my coffee isn't a glimpse of what my life is like because i prefer my coffee... plain. black. no cream. no sugar. no excitement, what so ever. actually that's not my life at all, because my life is full of excitement. come on...hello, six kids?...how can it not be?

... if i do go to starbucks, i usually get a caramel macchiato, and that never really changes unless it is a pumpkin spice latte or one of those holiday drinks.

this week the coffee talk questions are a birthday theme in celebration of natalie's birthday. go over and wish her a happy day!

1. When is your birthday? How old will you be? What is your sign?

my birthday is november 30th and i am a sagittarius. email me at sixcherriesontop(at)gmail(dot)com if you haven't yet received my mailing address to send my gifts. ha! i'm kidding. sorta!

034

2. What's the BEST birthday gift you've ever gotten? What is the WORST gift?

the best gift ever is a christmas ornament i received from a co-worker the year my ex-husband and i separated. my parents and i weren't speaking either, and the day i was supposed to have off for my birthday was basically taken away because one of my other lame lazy ass co-workers decided not to show up that day. i was in a super rotten mood, missing my family, and thought no one remembered my day. so while i was crying in a corner at work, my co-worker, debbie came in with a small gift and inside it was a beautiful christmas ornament. i loved it and am always grateful for her doing that, that day. it may not have been the most expensive gift or anything but it was the most meaningful gift i have ever been given on a birthday.

i don't think i have ever had a terrible gift because i am grateful for everything i have ever been given.

3. Do you like having birthday parties for yourself? What about surprise birthday parties?

not really. the last birthday party i had was when i was 7 and my mom invited a magician to the house who proceeded to saw my mom in half and traumatize me for the rest of my life. well, not the REST of my life, but i seriously flipped out. obviously, it was fake but at the time, i had no idea. i love having parties for other people though.

intermission: i thought i would take a break here to let you know that it has been one heck of a stressful week, that i just ate 10 hostess sweet sixteen donuts, and now i feel like a fat pig!

4. What is your dream birthday party bash???

i have no idea. i have honestly never thought about it. i have talked to jason about restaurant hopping in the past so that may be something awesome. not really something you can do with a bunch of people but it would be something like this:

  • starbucks coffee
  • all you can eat buffet breakfast at golden corral
  • chicken wings at wild wing cafe
  • sushi made by our favorite sushi chef at harris teeter
  • frozen yogurt at sweet spoons
  • homewreckers at moe's
  • salad and breadsticks at olive garden
  • cupcakes at gigi's cupcakes
  • drive in movie with nachos and cheese and lots of jalapenos

i am pretty sure i would be vomiting by the time i even got to the sushi, but the whole idea is something i have always wanted to do. oh, and it would also be a free pass day where i didn't gain a single pound.

5. What is your favorite kind of birthday cake? [handmade, store bought, made fresh by a baker]

my birthday is close to chirstmas so i have always loved red velvet cake with white homemade cream cheese frosting and crushed candy cane pieces.

6. What is on your birthday wish list?

happy bday to me
  1. birchbox. i think i am the last person on the planet to get this.
  2. starbucks coffee mug with giftcard
  3. toms or vans (since my last pair were stolen by my oldest daughter mackenzie. that's what happens when you have kids young, you have the same interests, and your kid reaches the same sizes you are)
that's pretty much it for my birthday list. it is usually small because christmas is right around the corner.

coffee talk

i missed out on this the other day so i am jumping in now. plus, it has been super cold so a nice hot cup of coffee is just what i need right now.

1. If you could punch ANY celebrity in the face, who would it be and why?

lindsay lohan hands down! she just irritates me and...damn! hasn't she learned her lesson about anything yet?

 lindsay lohan mug shots

2. If you could go streaking (running naked for those who don't know) anywhere and get away with it, where would you do it?

if i could get away with it, it kinda takes the fun out of the possibility of getting caught and in some kind of trouble.

3. What’s more important to a relationship: common values or commonalities (like tastes in music, interests, etc.)?

i think they both kinda go hand in hand but my ex husband and i had similar interests when it came to just about everything but our values were very different. i believe it was the ultimate downfall of our marriage (among other things). jason and i have a lot in common, but if i were to really compare, i would say that we have a lot more differences. however, we share many of the same values when it comes to what we want in life and what we want for our children.

4. Would you rather be insane in a functional society, or one of the people running a dysfunctional society?

i would rather be the one that was insane than have to manage a group of nuts...i have no patience for anything. besides, i am already a little bit crazy already.

 5. What’s your favorite type of pickle?  Dill?  Bread ‘n Butter? Spicy?

van holten's hot mama pickles are the absolute best. they are hot as hell, but sooo good.

coffee talk

okay, here i go! i am linking up with natalie for coffee talk this week...on time! this week it's about music, videos, and entertainment. definitely some of my favorite stuff to talk about.

1. what is in your playlist?

i like a huge variety of music including pop, rock, indie, country, and everything in between all of those. here is just a random selection of what you would find on my playlist.

coldplay - the scientist
two door cinema club - what you know
alexi murdoch - all my days
walk the moon - anna sun
mat kearney - ships in the night
lissie - when i'm alone
phoenix - if i ever feel better
ed sheeran - the a team
john mayer - heartbreak warfare
best coast - our deal
gym class heroes - ass back home
blue october - into the ocean
sara bareilles - gravity
nickel creek - this side
josh turner - long black train

2. What is the funniest YouTube video you always go to when you need a laugh (or if you just wanna watch it)?

i have two.

my oldest daughter is the queen of comedy and she is always showing me something funny. she showed me this video the other day that had me peeing my pants.

and if you know me, you know that i love julian smith and have always loved this video of his jeffery character.

 3. Favorite song in the whole wide world that you never get sick of and it's on repeat.

i pretty much get sick of all songs eventually, but i have kinda always had a thing for drops of jupiter by train for forever.

 4. Do you have any embarrassing songs/singers/bands that you like?

not really, but i guess i could say that i actually like some of the NKOTB's new stuff in recent years like click, click, click. i was a huge fan of the back in the late 80's when it was new kids on the block, so it's good to see them still making music after all these years. and i LOVE justin beiber's new song beauty and a beat. i am sure it will blow up all over the radio any day now and i will start to hate it.

5. What's that ONE song that ALWAYS makes you cry?

this was an easy one for me. brooks and dunn, believe.

6. What song have you recently heard, that you can't seem to get out of your head?

that damn justin beiber song!

coffee talk

starbucks iced coffee 4 with letters

1. let's talk about ink: do you have tattoos? how many?

yes. i have 4 tattoos. my favorite one is on my neck and it is a clover to represent my irish heritage.

281939_2329167033511_1379767854_2804877_6916202_ntattoo copytattoo2 copy

i would love to have more, when i can afford to, including a phoenix feather, hot air balloon, teacup, and snowflakes.

2. let's talk about hair styles: bangs, do you have them, want them, trying to grow them out? what about side bangs?

Untitled

i go back and forth with bangs. sometimes i love them and have them, sometimes i hate them and grown my hair out. right now i am growing them out from a rotten mood spur of the moment chop. it wasn't a bad cut, but i really had no intentions of cutting them. i was in a bad mood that day and i needed something to take it out on. so, i grabbed the scissors and a handful of my hair and cut.

i have been occasionally doing my bangs side swept lately, when i actually do my hair but for the most part it's more like a side part. and, if it's not like that, it's up in a top knot. but, that's another thing i go back and forth with because sometimes they are parted.

3. let's talk about work: without getting specific with a company name, what do you do? what did you want to be when you grew up when you were young?

i am currently a SAHM and i love it! when i was younger, i never really knew what i wanted to be when i grew up. i may have said teacher, i know i said actress, and i probably said truck driver. i guess i could never figure out what i wanted to do because i was meant to be at home for my kids every day.

i went to school for my degree in early childhood education and i worked 12 years in childcare. i have been an infant teacher, toddler teacher, preschool teacher, before and after school program teacher, assistant director, area assistant, health and safety coordinator, and marketing assistant...all in a childcare setting. did i love it? yes. did i hate it? yes. working with children is a very tough, yet rewarding job.

4. let's talk about friends: do you find it easier or more difficult to meet new friends as an adult? do you have what you consider "blog friends"? what about irl friends?

i am a pretty friendly person so i am sure i could make friends pretty easily, however, i don't have the time for new irl friends so i don't make an effort to make new ones. that doesn't mean i am a bitch. that just means i don't commit to things with people i know i can't fit into my schedule.

UntitledUntitled

i have two best friends irl. i have friends, but the two i pretty much talk or text almost every single day are amanda and matthew. matthew is my bff from middle school and amanda and i met when we both previously worked at the same childcare center.

5. let's talk about social media: android or iphone? twitter or facebook?

i have only ever had an iphone so i don't have it to compare, but i love my iphone and have never considered switching to a droid.

i both love and hate things about facebook and twitter. i prefer twitter but most of my irl friends don't use twitter like i do so i spend an equal amount of time over there as well. i would have to say, i use facebook more for irl friends and family and twitter more for my blog. i wish everyone would just move to twitter.

this is old but i have always loved this video...

coffee talk

Natalie Blair

i decided to participate in the coffee talk link up with natalie, over at natalie blair blog, an awesome blog i discovered recently and have really been loving. this week is all about food so be sure to stop over and check out natalie's answers to these questions and link your own answers as well.

1. pancakes or waffles?

17

waffles! i got my first waffle maker two christmas holidays ago and have definitely gotten my grandma's money's worth out of it. i love to top them with fresh fruit and almonds.

2. what is your go to meal?

 hamburgers 2

lately it has been homemade cheeseburgers. i have eaten a cheeseburger at least once a week for month's now...topped with muenster cheese, lettuce, tomato, and a mock guacamole. i had one last night!

3. what is your "must have" snack while watching a movie/tv show?

salsa2

chips and salsa. i make a fresh batch about once a week and we enjoy it for about two days. it's so good, i can't stop eating it. usually just a regular simple tomato, peppers, garlic, and onions salsa, plus a few secrets, but sometimes i add mango too!

4. what is your guilt food?

cakepops4

any thing chocolate. i don't really eat it when i am sad or lonely but pretty much all the time, and if i have a headache, my body craves it.

5. what kind of food do you eat that is so disgusting to others and you are embarrassed to tell?

Recipe-2102-Macaroni-In-Tomatoes-37783

i couldn't think of anything so i asked my little family and they told me macaroni and tomatoes. all it is, is a can of diced tomatoes, 2 cups of water, and macaroni noodles cooked on the stove like a "fancy" tomato soup. just like in the photo above.
