The Polyvore Files | My Makeup Routine

Last week, I shared with you all my beauty routine and what I use to keep my face clean. This week, I thought I would share with you some of the makeup products I am currently using. I have quite a bit of makeup, and buy a lot that I end up not liking, but these are definitely products I am using and love.

Since I stay home with the kids, I don't wear makeup often, but when I do, I like products that last a long time and are light on my skin. There is nothing I dislike more than feeling like I have a giant layer of caked on makeup, especially in the Summer! I also prefer a more natural look, so I never wear a huge amount of any of it either, so I know if I buy a product that feels heavy on my skin, then it is not the right one for me.

my top 3 tuesday - make-up must haves

i don't leave my house to go anywhere special very often, but even when i do leave, such as to run my kids to school or to the market, i try to throw a little something on just in case i meet dane cook buying bread or preparing to give a stay in school speech.

ha!

a woman's gotta look halfway descent though.

let's take a look at my top 3 must have make-up items (fyi: i do LOVE cover girl cosmetics, however, i do use other make-up products as well.  it is sheer coincidence that my top 3 are cover girl products):

1. mascara - it must be waterproof mascara.  i am constantly touching my eyes for some strange reason. whether it be because i have something in them or to make sure i don't have crusty eye boogies. eww!

or just because it is some whacked out weird habit i have.

yeah, that last one is probably the closest to the truth.

i prefer to use very black. NOT black, NOT brown, NOT black brown, or brown black.  

VERY black.

and waterproof, of course!

you know, because i have that eye habit and maybe even because i have fear of this happening:

i have the lightest eyelashes ever but there are lots of them. you have no idea the difference this stuff makes on me.

i am currently using this:

covergirl professional remarkable washable waterproof mascara, very black or black brown {$4.99}

2. powder - i don't really like foundation, but if i am trying to look my best i will put it on. i hate the way it feels, and i am too cheap, and don't wear make-up enough to buy the expensive stuff that probably feels a little better.

i could not live without powder.

only because my face looks so oily sometimes.  i have combination skin, but it tends to be really oily in the summer and really dry in the winter. i always have a horrible shine though.

this product i use the most doesn't weigh me down or cake up when i get hot and sweaty.

3. lip gloss - at one time i used light lipstick with chap stick over it until i found this lip gloss.

even when dressing up, i have been a bigger fan of wearing lip gloss as opposed to using lipstick.

i like that glossy look. it makes me feel famous.

okay, no not really!

but, the best part about this stuff is that it lasts forever.  i can apply this it in the morning and it lasts for hours.  i have never really kept up with how many hours, but at least half a day i would say.

although, i do recall being pleasantly shocked to see it still on one late afternoon.
