The Polyvore Files | My Makeup Routine

Last week, I shared with you all my beauty routine and what I use to keep my face clean. This week, I thought I would share with you some of the makeup products I am currently using. I have quite a bit of makeup, and buy a lot that I end up not liking, but these are definitely products I am using and love.

The Polyvore Files - Makeup Routine
Free Beeswax Mega font from Chelsea over at Chelsea Beeswax.

1. Urban Decay - Naked 3 Eyeshadow Pallet, $52
2. Clinique - Soft Pressed Powder Blush, $21
3. CoverGirl - Smoothers BB Cream, $6
4. Almay - Clear Complexion Powder, $11
5. Maybelline - Rocket Volume Express Waterproof Mascara and Colossal Volum' Express Waterproof Mascara, $6 each
6. E.L.F. - Studio Golden Bronzer, $3
7. Mary Kay - Lipstick, $15
8. Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion, $20
9. CoverGirl - Invisible Concealer, $6
10. CoverGirl - Brow Pencil, $4
11. CoverGirl - Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner, $5
12. Mary Kay - Makeup Brushes, $60 (my set came with a couple more brushes than you see here)

Since I stay home with the kids, I don't wear makeup often, but when I do, I like products that last a long time and are light on my skin. There is nothing I dislike more than feeling like I have a giant layer of caked on makeup, especially in the Summer! I also prefer a more natural look, so I never wear a huge amount of any of it either, so I know if I buy a product that feels heavy on my skin, then it is not the right one for me.

What are some of the makeup products you are currently using and recommend?

What's in My Bag: Part Two + a Carmex Giveaway

I was not financially compensated for this post. The lip balms mentioned in this post were provided by Carmex. However, all thoughts and opinions are mine and in no way influenced. Six Cherries on Top Disclosure/Terms of Use

For the last What's in My Bag, I shared with you my obsession with little pouches and all the different ones I carry around in my purse. Each pouch carries a variety of items, making it easier to find the items I need.

 carmex-2

Another one of my little quirks is that I have to carry a variety of each item. One thing I always have with me is a variety of Carmex flavors. I seriously can't go anywhere without having my little fox pouch filled with all my favorite ones. I don't typically get dry cracked lips, but I get the worst wind burned lips in the winter. Just a few minutes in the wind and cold is all it takes... like I stuck my lips on a hot stove. I make sure I keep my Carmex on because who wants to kiss lips like that?

 carmex-3

Carmex recently came out with a new Limited Edition Moisture Plus Collection as well. This fun new collection features 4 graphically-printed lip balms that highlights the trendier side of Carmex. Not only are Carmex lip balms perfect whether you have dry cracked lips or wind burned lips, plus they are now packaged in a stylish tube. Express your unique personality by choosing the tube that best fits your style.

 carmex-4carmex-5

I took the Uniquley You Personality Quiz to see wich stick best aligns with my personality... Chic, Fab, Adventurous, or Whimsical.

My results: Adventurous (the leopard print design). Surprisingly, that is the one that I was drawn to the most and always seem to reach for it first.

So, how about a quick little giveaway?

One lucky Six Cherries on Top reader will get the chance to win a 4-pack of the new Limited Edition Moisture Plus Collection with one of each graphically-printed lip balm.

You are More Beautiful than You Think

I watched this video last night and couldn't help but get a little teary eyed as I sympathized with these women, over the struggles I have endured when it comes to accepting myself as God made me. Even after losing a whopping 50 pounds this year, I still wake up some days and am critical of myself. Extremely critical is closer to reality. I could sit here and talk forever about all the things I dislike about myself, but why do I do that to myself? Why is it so easier to focus on the negative, when there is so much more of the positive in me?

I have decided to take a stand in my own life and spend the next 30 days being less critical of myself and looking more toward my strengths and the physical aspects of myself that I love instead of constantly pointing out the negative. As the video affirms, other people don't see us the way we see ourselves, and that our own inner voice can be so detrimental to how we live our lives. I don't want to be the reason for my own regrets.

As I jump start this effort to put more energy into my focus on what makes me beautiful, I am going to share with you 10 things that I love about me. I would love for you to join in whether it be to share some things in the comments or to create your own post about 10 things that you love about you as well. I give you permission to brag without being judged.

Ten Things I Love About Me:

1. My eyes - They are definitely green, but sometimes depending on what I wear, they can look almost a turquoise color.

2. My creativity - I love that I have a passion for so many creative outlets.

3. My clear skin - I have amazingly clear skin. Luckily, I have never had to deal with severe acne.

4. My hair - have super soft hair. It sounds crazy, but some days I can't keep my fingers out of my hair because I love how soft it is.

5. My teeth - They are straight, I have never had to wear braces, and have only had 1 major cavity my entire life.

6. My sense of humor - I love to make other people laugh.

7. My confidence - I stand up for what I believe in and I am not afraid to try new things.

8. My uniqueness - I love to be different from others. I actually enjoy finding ways to shine in my own way.

9. My determination - When I want something, I go for it and am not satisfied until I get it.

10. My high standards and values - I always give 100% and always expect the same in return.

It's NaBloPoMo, which means I will be blogging every day in November. I do hope you will follow along here

Target, Starbucks, the thrift store, and Mistletoe Market craft show with the family. Sounds like a perfect day to me.

carmex makes lotion too! (review and giveaway)

carmex

about a month ago carmex sent me a package with two full size containers and two travel size tubes of their new lotion to try. i am usually pretty skeptical about certain lotions because many of them smell great but don't really do anything for my itchy dry skin that usually starts to irritate me this time of year.

every fall and into the winter, my skin starts to get dry and itchy....winter dry skin and i hate it. i even hate to shave my legs because shaving seems to always make it worse.

like i said, i was a little skeptical, but i am always willing to try something new.

i put it on my legs and feet after a shower and shaving. it smells great, just like carmex lip products actually, and has worked amazingly to keep my legs from feeling dry and itchy. and the dryness i usually get on my heels has not gone completely away, but i have seen a big improvement.

carmex3 carmex4

i have been using it every day and love it.
  • has the classic, minty carmex scent that i love
  • not greasy (i WILL NOT use greasy lotions, i can't stand the way they feel)
  • soothes my itchy dry skin

product review: l'oreal go 360º clean deep facial cleanser (for sensitive skin)

loreal face wash 006

for the majority of my life so far, i have been blessed with pretty clear skin. there was that short period of time right after i got my first period, but even then, it was more like a blemish here or there. never a full blown case all over. i have almost always used oil of olay products for washing my face and have nothing bad to say about their products, but now that i am getting older, i have noticed more blackheads and the texture of my skin is just not as soft as it once was.

at first glance most people wont notice my blackheads. in fact, i am probably the only one who notices, simply because i am constantly in the mirror examining my face. it's insane how much i am in the mirror freaking out about my face even though i know that i have pretty great skin. however, those blackheads were bothering me, so i started randomly trying new things to get rid of them.

i tried several different products and none of them worked. they either made my face super oily, super dry or just did nothing at all. i even tried some stuff that totally messed my skin up so bad it felt like i had 2nd degree burns on my face. yikes! i probably could have tried a $30 bottle of something that only lasts a month, but i wasn't about to spend that much money on my face. most of my clothes didn't even cost that much.

loreal face wash 010

recently, i discovered the new l'oreal go 360º clean deep facial cleanser for sensitive skin and i have been in love ever since. not only has it started to clear up some of those small blackheads that have been driving me crazy, it has made a difference in the softness of my skin.

it comes with a scrublet as well that is gentle on my skin. previously, i was using an exfoliating pad that i thought was the best thing for cleaning my face until i started using the scrublet. i believe the exfoliating pad was actually too harsh for my face, but i just never realized it until now. i thought i had to buff the heck out of my skin to remove dead skin cells and make my face soft and flake free. i was so wrong.  after using the l'oreal go 360º clean deep facial cleanser, i no longer have flaky dry areas on my face, and i have also noticed that i don't have to use nearly as much moisturizer as i did before either.

is it correct to say that maybe i was actually drying my face out and it was dehydrated before?

although it has only been about a month since i started using the l'oreal go 360º clean deep facial cleanser, i just can't imagine going back to my old routine, i love it that much. if you have slightly dry sensitive skin like i once did, i strongly recommend this product.

come back tomorrow to hear all about another facial product i have been using at night before i go to bed as well.

product review: axe hold + touch spiking glue

Axe-Hold-and-Touch-300x104

just recently i tried some new products that were sent to me, as well as some products i had been hearing things about that i tried. some of them i loved, some of them were just...meh! this week i will be sharing some of these products that i am loving right now and will also be offering a giveaway this friday for one of my favorite new products.

i have only tried a handful of products on my boys. not until recently, as they have gotten older, have they really been into dressing nicely, smelling good, and "doing" their hair when they come home from their mom's. i received the axe hold + touch spiking glue a few weeks ago and couldn't wait for them to get here to try it out (jason doesn't exactly have hair to test it out on).

@AXE Spiking Glue rocks!Axe Spiking Glue is the bomb dot com!
these styles are a little over dramatized but it definitely demonstrates the power of axe spiking glue.

they have tried axe body wash and body sprays, but we are all pretty new to their line of men's hair products. right off, the first thing i noticed was the scent. it has a very pleasant scent, unlike any of their other products. the texture of it closely resembles actual glue (you know, like the elmer's kind), but dries like a gel, just not as "hard".

applying it was pretty easy, i simply squeezed a dime size amount of the spiking glue in my hand, which was actually a little too much, and rubbed my hands together. then i just ran my hands through their hair to give it a "messy" look, if that makes sense. it dries quickly and washes out easily.

Not doing a very good eating healthy today.I actually love their hair like this.
more like the style they like.

the weather has been pretty unpredictable lately around here and a couple times when i have planned to take fall photos of my kids, rain has ruined it for us. i guess i can look at things on the bright side though because now i have a few more days to plan and i am excited to use the axe spiking glue on their hair for our fall photos. i just gave elijah an adorable new big boy hair cut too, so i will be using it on his hair to give him a cute little mohawk.

they love it, i love it, you will too. go check it out!

disclosure: thanks to klout and klout perks for the free sample of axe hold + touch spiking glue. all opinions are my own. six cherries on top disclaimer/terms of use

Fullscreen capture 12202010 85924 PM
in the last week, i have seriously had the worst chapped lips ever. it's a given that every year when winter comes, i am going to get wind burned chapped lips so i was excited when carmex contacted me to be a member of their carmex blog squad and to try out the new carmex moisture plus ultra hydrating lip balm tints.

these new tinted lip balms from carmex come in two shades, sheer pink and sheer peach, and are perfect for adding a hint of color to your lips while also keeping them moisturized and protected from those nasty winter winds.

they are formulated with vitamin e, aloe, shea butter, and spf.

carmex has always been a brand i could trust, so i had no doubt that the new tinted lip balms would be great.

be sure to stick around and find out how you can try carmex moisture plus ultra hydrating lip balm in their new tints.
