Mini Style | Yellow Balloons

ministyle-yellowballoons7

Elijah has two sides lately... super happy or super grumpy! We never know which little person will greet us each day, so we brace ourself for grumpy Elijah and sigh a sense of relief when we discover it's happy Elijah. Today, so far, it's happy Elijah, and thank goodness for that. We woke up listening to music, dancing around the house, and just being silly, since Mother Nature is apparently having separation anxiety with Winter. We woke up to a finger numbing 32 degrees. But, it was perfect weather for this adorable outfit we just received from Carolyn over at Yellow Balloons

Elijah loves this monster outfit and hasn't wanted to take it off since he put it on! Carolyn is mom to one of my best blog friends, Audrey, from over at Classy Mustachey, and I was so excited when she told me her mom was opening her own shop of handmade children's clothes. I wish I had a pair of these Lil' Cowboy Boots when Elijah was an infant! And this Owl Swaddle Blanket is just about the cutest thing ever!

I love Carolyn's attention to detail on the custom made outfit she made for Elijah. Before making Elijah's outfit, she asked me about his style, his favorite colors, and some of his likes. She totally hit the nail on the head with this outfit since we have been calling Elijah our little monster since he was born. She even sent an extra little monster buddy that he has been carrying around in his pocket and sleeping with every night.

And let's just talk about this outfit! Check out those little knee patches, one with a monster! Is that not the cutest thing ever? Elijah has already been trying to decide what he is going to carry in that front bib pocket. Right now he is carrying one of his Hot Wheels cars around up there! Typical boy!

Carolyn started sewing as a young girl and has been sewing nonstop through the years, for her 7 children, and now her grandchildren. Everything is made with love, but she enjoys making custom pieces, adding colors and designs, to fit individual personalities.

Head over to Yellow Balloons Etsy shop and check out some of Carolyn's other items, and be sure to favorite her shop while you are there! You can even receive 10% off your purchase right now by using the code SIXCHERRIES10 at checkout! And be sure to like Yellow Balloons on Facebook where you will find a code for free shipping!

Mini Style | March Madness

MiniStyleMarchweek1Elijah5

March means it's NCAA time and we are Duke fans in this house! We don't watch every single game, but we do watch when we can to keep up, and definitely throw on our Duke blues to show the love. Elijah hardly cares though, because if it isn't a super hero, he's not interested! But, is he not the cutest little man ever?

We've been stuck in the house for a couple of days because of more snow and ice, but that doesn't stop us from going, as long as the roads aren't too bad. The cabin fever is at an all-time high, so we have plans for the next few days that will definitely be keeping us busy.  We all feel better when we can get out of our pajamas, put on some real clothes, and get out of the house.

Mini Style | Super Hero or Little Wizard?

MiniStyleCape2

Harry Potter Shirt - Made by me
Leggings - Target, $4
Cape - Made by me

MiniStyleCape1

I made this cape back in January for Elijah after making some others for charity. I just couldn't get away with making capes without making one for my little super hero. He loves wearing it and jumping off of the furniture, pretending to fly. However, because he is wearing that Harry Potter shirt, I think he looks more like a little wizard. All he needs is a little wand.

Mini Style | A Haircut, a Bribe, and a Cute Necktie

The snow has melted, we had our fill of the white stuff, and now I am ready to move on! It is still pretty cold here in NC, and spring doesn't really start to show up until April or May, so who am I kidding? Pants and long sleeves for a little longer!

Elijah just got his hair cut as well. It was starting to look like a mullet in the back. Even though, I like his hair long, Daddy is a military man, and short hair is more his cup of tea. Usually giving him a cut is a nightmare because he is so scared of the clippers, but I bribed him this time so wasn't so bad. He tends to be quite the little stinker, so we bribe him probably more than we should.

He hardly wanted to take these photos, so I bribed him with cookies to get these photos!

He did ask ever so sweetly for Valentine cookies, so of course, I delivered! However, what you don't see here are the 5 he ate before these photos. My 4 year old needs a sugar intervention! Don't ever ask him what we should have for dinner either, because he will probably say cookies.

I love the adorable bow ties and neckties that Lindsay, from over at Sweet-n-Sassy Shoppe, makes. Check out this adorable bow tie Elijah has! He gets so many compliments on both of these ties every time he wears them!

Lindsay will be having a flash sale tomorrow on her Instagram account for some of her Valentine bow ties, so be sure to follow her there (@sweetnsassyshoppe) to pick one up for your little Valentine dude!

Mini Style (formerly Sartorial Kid)

I really love participating in this link up because I am a lot more intentional about taking photos of my kids. Last year, I had a whole lot of phone photos of my kids, but not very many taken with my big camera. I am hoping to put together a book at the end of the year, so taking these photos will definitely give me something to put down. I will probably add some other info to go along with the photos so that I may be able to tell a story when putting the book together.

Elijah has been the star of many of these kid's fashion posts, only because he is home with me every day and it is much easier to find the time, but I am hoping to feature the rest of my kiddos a little more in upcoming Mini Style posts. And since I have kids ages currently 4-15, I should have a variety of style posts to inspire the wardrobes of children of all ages.

Hat - Target, $8
Shirt - Target, $10
Sweater Vest - Target, $10
Pants - Target, $12
Shoes - Converse, $30

This was an outfit we gave Elijah for Christmas, that he also wore that day when we visited my Mom and her family. Elijah is the typical little boy, so every time he opened a gift that was clothing, he quickly threw it aside, uninterested. At one point he even said "Oh, wow, clothes, thanks!" in his most unenthusiastic voice. He was extremely disappointed but did remember to say "thanks", and his reaction had us all doubled over with laughter. Five minutes later he was having the time of his life in a cardboard box. I don't get it!

Elijah's favorite gift this Christmas was his Batcave and super hero figures, which also happens to be my least favorite because those things are EVERYWHERE! He hasn't stopped playing with any of it and it is always scattered throughout the house. My OCD is on overdrive!
