my first miscellany monday

sometimes there are thoughts that just don't need an entire post, so this is a great way for me to get them all out there.

1. the party-less birthday

this weekend our little princess celebrated her 4th birthday.  since we have been lacking in the party planning area this year, it was only fair that she also not have a party.  but, of course lots of fun was planned, including icecream and a lime ricky at goodberry's, dinner at carolina ale house, and some soap making at grandma's (biological dad's mom) that i have absolutely no pictures of.  she had a blast choosing the mold shapes, scents, and colors.  her favorite of course was the soap shaped like a purse that she colored her favorite color, purple. she couldn't wait to take a bath with them. she is growing so fast.

2. i'm seeing doubles

i also did some major school shopping this weekend. everywhere i go, i am often asked if the princess and the pea are twins since i  buy doubles of everything to keep the fighting down. tyler is not starting school but since phoenix is, i had to buy the second set.

almost everything...the shoes don't match.  but i even bought matching shoes this weekend!

i must say that buying their clothes in doubles does work...with the arguments about clothes ONLY!  they fuss about everything else still.  help me please, is this common for siblings to argue like they do at this age, OVER EVERYTHING?

3. i'm skipping school

this week will be incredibly busy for me.  tonight i am supposed to be in a class that i could not get online, but unfortunately, phoenix's open house is tonight as well.  i will be missing the first session of my class, but her education is way more important than mine. tomorrow is mack's open house, and then she starts school on wednesday.  i am starting to feel a little overwhelmed.  i still haven't unpacked from our vacation because i have been on the go since we got back.

4. riding in style

sunday we made two very important purchases.  first we purchased a brand new, big boy carseat for little e.  i did a little research and we ended up choosing the graco nautilus 3-in-1 carseat.  we installed it immediately, and he smiled the whole way home. he loves it! and once again, no pictures!

5. attack of the killer grass

our second purchase was a brand new troy-bilt bronco riding lawn mower.  we have been contemplating this purchase for awhile, but with the sheer size of our yard and it's lack of trees, has made using our push mower a daunting task that no one enjoys partaking.  why was this such an important purchase?  because i believe i heard whispering in my front yard as the giant overgrown blades of grass were conjuring up a plan to eat us. being gone for one week on vacation and putting off mowing for another week has left us with attack of the 4 feet grass. i wish i had taken a before picture, but sorry, no pictures!

i hope you all have a wonderful week!
