A Mad Hatter Tea Party

DSCI0393

Friday is the opening of the new Alice in Wonderland movie and, Red is soooo excited. Last week, I purchased tickets online just for her and me to see it at the IMAX Theater in 3D.

To go along with the movie, I thought it would be a super fun idea to have a Mad Hatter tea party style dinner right before we go. It was a last minute decision to do it and, I do wish I had come up with the idea and planned a lot sooner but, I pulled it off well for short notice. Did I mention it was a {surprise} to Red? Oh Yes, it was!

I gathered most of the stuff from the Goodwill including, the tea pot, some of the tea cups and saucers (I had some already), the little cage, and some of the bowls. I purchased an inexpensive bunch of flowers at the market, and just used our St. Patrick's Day table cloth. I did try to look for another one at the Goodwill with no luck.

Red was delighted and even claimed it as the best dinner ever. Wow! That makes a mom proud.

The food consisted of little sandwiches with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, and sprouts on the side to add to your sandwich. There were also chips, homemade cookies (as well as some store bought ones too), plus fresh fruit and yogurt dip.

I made some super simple signs that said "Eat Me!" and "Drink Me!" to add to the table arrangement and Voila!, a Mad Hatter Tea Party!

I would like to perhaps try this again, maybe right before the Blu-ray release, when I have more time to really make it shine. However, I am extremely pleased with how this turned out.
