my favorite shows
Posted by
Joni
over the years, i don't recall having too many favorite shows. i was more of a movie watcher, but still watched a few various shows now and then. i think the first time i really remember getting super involved in a show (like where missing an episode was a travesty) was when i started watching dawson's creek.
i don't really watch dawson's creek these days, even though i do occasionally find myself missing dawson, joey, pacey, and jenn. i always dreamed of moving down to southport, NC where majority of the show was filmed, to live out my dawson's creek fantasy.
these days my favorite shows are a bit different. i have talked about some of my favorite shows in the past, and some of them have changed even since then, but these are definitely the shows i find myself eagerly awaiting each week or counting the days until the new season starts.
here are my top favorite shows (as of right now):
1. true blood - i only recently saw this show for the first time and ended up watching the first 4 seasons in about a week. who doesn't love a show that has vampires, fairies, werewolves, witches, maenads, were-panthers and shape shifters? right now, the show is in it's off season, but i can't wait for the new season. i am addicted! (sundays at 9 on hbo)
2. sons of anarchy - when i first started watching this show, it was in it's second season. shortly after the second season was over, i purchased the first season on blu ray to get caught up on the story and have been watching it ever since. (tuesdays at 10 on fx)
3. how i met your mother - this is another show i have never seen from the beginning but have enjoyed for the last few years. my favorite character? barney. but still, as much as i love the show...tell us who the freaking mother is, will you! (mondays at 8/7c on cbs)
4. the walking dead - only in it's second season, i have been watching this show from the very beginning. a show about zombies. oh yeah, that's awesome! (second half of season 2 starts sunday, february 12 at 9/8c on amc)
have you seen any of these shows? who are your favorite characters?
what about you, what are your favorite shows on tv?

let's talk TV

we love television!
if you know jason, you know that to be an understatement. but, if you know me, that may sound a bit ironic because i have stated so many times that i don't really watch tv. and i don't. but, only because most times when i put a movie on, i get distracted by my computer/ my phone/ my kids/ good food/ or i just fall asleep. it's almost impossible for me to watch an entire movie, that i have never seen, the first time. probably not even the second time either. sometimes it takes 10 times for me to see a movie completely (3 or 4 times if it is a 30-60 minute tv show).
we used to buy movies all the time. we have over 1,000 movies and tv shows on blu ray and dvd. but with the invention of redbox, on demand, dvr, netflix, hulu, and a couple other apps for iphone and ipad, i think we have only purchased 2 or 3 movies in the last year. it really isn't necessary anymore.
i am most certain i could not live without a tv. in fact, at least one of our televisions is on 24/7. we even sleep with the tv on in our bedroom.
we love tv so much, i thought i would make an effort to talk tv a little each week. i was a little hesitant at first because this isn't something i usually write about here on my blog. however, i feel like i am in a rut around here. and besides...this is my blog, it's a new year, and i think it's time for changes.
are you excited? i am.
i would love for you to join me by sharing your stories, favorites, and recommendations in the comments each week (mondays).
until then, check out some of the stuff i have waiting for us on the dvr...
these are some movies we haven't seen yet, let me know what you think if you have already seen any of them.
side note: just because we have TV on in our home a lot does not indicate the amount of TV we actually watch. it is actually a rule in our home that our children don't watch TV monday-thursday during the school year and we spend a lot of time doing many other things besides watching TV.
