with first words and new stunts every day, our little monster is growing up so quickly. and although, i am pretty sure we baby him way more than we should, only because i want him to stay little forever, he shows signs of growth every day now.
while standing beside me, i asked him to put his hand on my hand and he suddenly did as i asked without any hand gestures. i was so surprised at how quickly he responded to my request that i asked him where his nose is, the one body part that i know we have been working on since birth. for the first time today, as if he knew it all along and only teased me with his confused stares and charming giggles, he threw his pointer finger up and pointed with pride, right at his nose.
mouth wide open in shock and a smile on my heart, i scooped his little body up and gave him hugs for nearly 5 minutes. i taught him that! he knows that because of me, and maybe his daddy and brothers and sisters too. but he understands that just because he can't see his nose, that it is still there on his face.
elijah is 18 months old and a few of the things he can do are:
- says and waves hi and bye.
- hugs and kisses upon request and concludes that if he cannot reach you to give you a kiss, he will blow one.
- can point to his nose, feet, hands, head, belly, arms, legs upon request.
- will go in search for a specific toy upon request and can recognize items like shoes, duck, cookie, and cup in a book.
- can say a few other words like stop, ball, mine and no and repeats a few random words another person might say like big boy.
i worked a job when my other children were this age and have really enjoyed having this opportunity this last year to be with him and my children each day to watch them learn and grow.
