pre-k this fall...maybe?

lately, i have been feeling guilty about how little this guy and i get out of the house and do things. i spend time with him at home, and he is so smart, but he doesn't get the opportunity to utilize all of the talents he has up there in his little brain like i want him to have. 

today, i called the elementary school that has a pre-k program that elijah would be able to attend in the fall, if we qualify. he is so interested in learning and being read to, but one thing i believe he is behind in is writing. he just isn't that into it and we don't really provide the opportunities like we should (shame on me!) sure, he colors, but that isn't the same. i hate the idea that qualifying means we fit into some kind of low income criteria, but at the same time i hope we do for his sake.

b&w wordless wednesday

if you keep up, you know that this little munchkin is a handful.

she is up religiously at 5 every morning, NEVER naps (and hasn't since she was about two), and usually doesn't go to sleep (she's in the bed but not asleep) until about 10 every night.  and since she is not in school yet, i am always with her and NEVER get a break from her busy little self. 

but she is the cutest darn thing in the world. and funny! the girl cracks me up!

here are a few things you probably don't know about tyler:

* she looks the most like me at her age. almost identical.

* she LOVES music. her favs. are katy perry and lady gaga.

* she was a scheduled c-section that turned into a vaginal birth. she was actually inverted (sideways), so the dr. scheduled a c-section, but the same day as the c-section, i went into labor. the start of my labor actually caused her to turn at the VERY LAST MINUTE. 

* she was hospitalized twice in her first few months of life. both one week each. once for a kidney infection at 5 weeks old and then again 13 weeks for rsv.

* she DOES NOT like bananas. maybe not so odd to some, but considering the fact that she is the only one and i LOVE them, i consider her a little weird. (definitely not the weirdest, that's mackenzie's title)

this is another one of my photos that i took last week for the simply bliss eclass i am taking and instructed by faith over at simplicity. we were asked to give a sooc shot for the class, so i decided to go ahead and edit the photo also.

it is so hard to believe that this sweet little face is almost at the end of her first year of school. i never thought she would enjoy kindergarten like she has.

here are a few other randoms about phoenix you probably don't know...

*she was 5 minutes shy of being born in our car. i could feel the top of her head crowning.

*she writes with both hands...and is good at it! but, mostly writes with her left hand.

*she is allergic to regular milk, so as a family we drink almond milk.

*she had her tonsils and adenoids removed when she was two.

wordless(ish) wednesday | trooper

trooper is my dad and stepmom's abnormally large, six month old cat.  when i mean abnormally large, i don't mean fat. i mean, he is one of the longest and tallest cats i have ever seen.  this photo doesn't do him justice but he likes to hide in his little house, a nice fluffy little cat perch at the window with a big circular door at the bottom, that my dad built.

trooper has poor eye sight and very sensitive eyes because he is slowly going blind, but you would never know it.  but you might know something is up when you poke your camera into his comfy little cat house to take his picture, with your flash on because it is so dark in there, and he goes a bit nuts because the light hurts his eyes! 

at all other times, he is a perfectly happy, fun loving cat.  he puts up with a lot of torture from my children.

with snow days last week and christmas break this week, our days have been filled with a lot of laying around.

every little "ing" we do brings joy to my days and puts a smile on my heart.
