your digital camera: exposure, aperture, shutter speed, iso

photography this and that

some people would think that the easiest way to use their camera would be just to put it on auto and snap. and you are right, it is! however, that's not quite what this series is about. hopefully you are here because you want to learn a little more about using your camera in manual mode and how to take your photography to the next level. i don't claim to be a professional at any of this, but i have learned a lot along the way by reading websites, watching tutorials, and lots of trial and error. that's why i am here to bring it all to you.

one of the first things you should know how to do when using your camera in manual mode is how to use the settings.

exposure: the amount of light you let into your camera.

aperture: how wide the lens opens up when you take a photo.

shutter speed: how long the shutter stays open when you take a photo.

iso: the sensor's sensitivity to light.

okay, so maybe a simple picture isn't going to help without a few explanations, right?  well, i am definitely not the one for good explanations, so i will leave it to those who can explain it better .

i have searched a lot for a very simple explanation for these and have come up with the photography tutorial over at my life in color.

photography tutorial part 1
photography tutorial part 2

be sure to check these out and then get out there and practice! practice is the best way to learn, understand, and get better. i am still doing the same myself.
