moving on to 2012. here are my resolutions!

happy new year

here i go! another year to make a bunch of resolutions that i probably won't keep. i guess with that kind of rotten attitude, the likely hood of my success is slim. i feel a little discouraged this year because last year i jumped into 2011 with an amazing attitude only to be let down. i was ready to start fresh and make it a great year...and then, BAM! seriously, everything you could imagine went wrong. i tried to look at it all with a positive attitude but sometimes i needed a few positive reminders from jason or a moment in the bathroom to pour my eyes out.

i really am grateful for everything i have and, i am probably over exaggerating about the crap factor of 2011. it was more like a bunch of small aggravating things mixed with one or two big things. the biggest being our air condition going out on us.

i sooo want to go into 2012 with a good attitude and lots to look forward to and hope that nothing will be there to stand in the way. i am such a planner and list maker so i have already started writing out some ideas for saving money, planning outings and family fun, blog post ideas, and more.

while coming up with my "resolutions" for this year, i looked back at my list of what i value most to spark ideas of what i wanted to put more of my focus into.

values
family: i want make more time to do special things with my children...together and one on one with each child. i also really want to carve out more time for jason and i to spend alone. more date nights. who wants to babysit?

faith: with jason's schedule, we haven't been to church in a very long time and i really miss it. i would like to make more of an effort to attend church. even once a month is better than what we have managed this past year. i also want to fit in more time to read my bible.

financial independence: make an effort to put off any purchases for at least a week, excluding food and other life necessities (DUH!). i tend to think that the earth will sell out of an item if i don't buy it right away. and then, i usually kick myself in the butt for wasting my money when i realize i didn't really need it. hopefully, finding other ways of cutting back will help us save on some of our bills too.

health: time to lose this weight. no more children are in my future and feeling tired is no longer an option for me. i tried to lose weight in 2011 but i didn't really have my head in the game. i plan to make big changes in 2012. this i can promise!

simplicity: i have been working on this one for a couple years now. i can happily say that i have been most successful at this one but always see the potential to simplify even more. getting rid of "stuff" is such a great feeling. you will never see this mama on hoarders. thanks to pinterest this past year, i have solved my paper problem too. who else had a notebook filled with magazine pages full of inspiration and DIY projects?

what are some of your new year's resolutions? what helps you stay motivated?
