killing two birds with one stone: iced coffee & a healthy video

i raced right out and got some of the new starbucks iced coffee blend when i saw an ad for it in one of my magazines the other day. someone recently pinned the pioneer woman's perfect iced coffee recipe on pinterest (come follow me!) and i figured the starbucks blend would be perfect to try it with.

the directions are super easy and i was excited to get up this morning and finally try it after my coffee had been sitting in the fridge getting cold overnight. i can honestly say that i am fighting the urge to get up and fix myself another drink right now.

there is no actual "hot brewing" of the coffee, and basically all you do is mix the actual ground coffee with water and let it sit for about 8 hours and then separate the coffee grounds from the liquid using a stainer and cheesecloth. then you pour the liquid into a container and put it into the refrigerator to get cold. once it is cold, you dispense the coffee over ice and add milk, cream, or half and half and your choice of sweetener then stir.

i used sugar to sweeten mine, which is a total shock if you know me, because i DO NOT use sugar ever. NEVER! i would never even buy it if jason's didn't have to have it for his coffee. but i didn't have anything else so that's what i used.

and...fyi, if you are going to use sugar, you may want to dissolve it in a small amount of warm water first because it is not going to melt in your iced coffee. or, you can just do this ahead of time and put it in the fridge to have available as needed just like the coffee.

i can honestly say that i have just moved on to the next level of my coffee addiction because of this recipe. and if you ever run into me and i seem a little wired, you know why.

so, don't think you can enjoy iced coffee without destroying your diet?

combining the pioneer woman's method with the healthy options a friend nichole suggests is probably the way i will go. check out her little video here on how to still enjoy a sweet and creamy coffee treat.
