big family, small budget series

bigfamsmallbudget

so many people always want to know what my budget looks like with six children, so i decided to do a little series about what works best for us that perhaps you can apply to your own life when it comes to spending money on a budget. these tips can most definitely be used whether you are a large family like we are, or are a single parent with one child.

i will go ahead and say that i am not a financial expert and not all of my ideas may work for everyone, they are just what works for us, and is only best when used as a guide. you may even have some ideas that work well for you that i would love for you to share.

in this ongoing series, i will share with you a variety of ways to save money and cut corners while still getting the most out of the important things in life.

the first step in this series is to make a list of your top 5 values.

values are anything that has relative worth, that you respect and praise, or that you deem most important to you in life.

values
there are really a few more including trust and learning, but for now let's just stick to the top 5. there is a fabulous list right HERE of values that you can use to help you out.

this step is necessary because knowing what is most important to you is a great step in the right direction when learning to live within your means. when doing anything in life, not just spending or saving money, you should always look inward and ask yourself whether you are living by your values or not. if your answer is NO, you should always take a step back and reevaluate or reconsider.

sometimes, many of us, including myself, get so wrapped up in the material things in life that we forget that happiness is not measured by the amount of stuff we have or how much money we make. as i continue this series every thursday, i will share with you how we save money when traveling, buying food, paying bills, and even having fun, plus much more. i look forward to hearing your comments and feedback, as well as any suggestions you have.

share it in a post. what are your top 5 values?
xoxo joni
