Do-it-Yourself Cork Board

100_7418

Remember these that I got for less than a dollar at the GCF store?  I believe they were cork hot plates.  I am pretty sure that is what they are but I saw them as something totally different.

When I looked at them, I saw a cork board.

I had plenty of paint left over from another recent project (I don't do a whole lot of painting) and thought I would use it up before it sits and separates or dries out.

I painted each one a different color with acrylic paint.  I actually painted it twice to ensure that it was coated well without seeing the cork underneath.

I bought some letter stencils and taped them to the dried cork circles then painted one of Red's initials on each one.

I glued the circles in a diagonal arrangement, chosen by Red herself, with hot glue and then covered where they connected with a large button.

On the back I glued a wooden piece that extends across all three to make them sturdy.  Lastly, all I need to do is hang it on Red's wall.

Now Red can tack all of those random little magazine pictures, notes, and other scraps in one neatly unorganized spot!
