Adventures in Geocaching

My kids LOVE this!

Geocaching is high tech scavenger/treasure hunt that uses a GPS device to find containers with treasures and trinkets others have left.

That was my attempt to describe it.  But, go HERE and HERE to watch the videos to see what Geocaching is all about.  It has been around for years, but we have just recently discovered it, and we have been enjoying it since.

Once you have watched the videos, you will definitely want to go back and read all of the information for getting started on your own Geocaching adventures.

The cache is any type of container with a lid.  Inside the container, cache finders have left little goodies or trinkets (or really whatever you want that will fit) for others to discover. The rules state that if you take something out, to put something back of equal or greater value.

This past weekend we went Geocaching in our area. We chose the "Fly Boys" Geocaching adventure.

This is the little guy we decided to contribute to the container. We have been calling him a donkey.

Once we finally found the cache, we put him in the container and took something out of the container.  We chose some coins someone had left.  Then we signed the logbook that comes with it too.

What an awesome way to spend time with your family, getting out of the house, enjoying some fresh air, a little adventure and great exercise!
