Crayon Valentines

I would love to tell you where I got this idea, but I cannot remember. I just know that when I told my children about these, they couldn't wait to make them. Red is a little too old to be giving these to her friends, but she was happy to help me make them.
We started out by collecting all of the pink, red, and purple crayons (I also used a little bit of yellow and aqua blue), and then I pulled all of the paper wrappers off of them.
Then, Red and I used a pencil sharpener to sharpen the crayons and collected the shavings on separate paper plates for each color. (OUCH! I actually got a blister from doing so much crayon sharpening)
I preheated the oven to 325 degrees and greased my {heart shapes muffin pan}.
Then, we evenly distributed the shavings into the pan. I purchased this heart shapes muffin pan from Walmart, in case you want to know. We alternated colors in each cup to create fun designs and color patterns.
Then I placed the pan in the oven for approximately 5-6 minutes (or until the crayon shavings have just melted).
Once they had melted, I removed the pan from the oven and placed it in the freezer to harden (about 5 minutes).
After they cooled, I removed them from the freezer and popped them out of the muffin pan and placed each one in a bag. I decorated the bag with a cute Valentine's label. I have included the label I made for you to use if you would like to make these.
My children can't wait to give these to their friends.
